Sloppy Joes

Courtesy of Food.com

I hope everyone had a Happy Easter! We had a fun filled weekend here at our house. :) Last night, I  wanted something quick and easy to make because the hubby called to say that he didn't have class, and he was on his way home. :o

So, I found this recipe for Sloppy Joes over at Food.com. I was surprised at how good these were. They tasted almost like the canned sloppy joes which I won't be buying anymore now! The hubby and son LOVED them, too!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • ( I added 1 carrot, grated )
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite)
  • 1 tablespoon firmly packed brown sugar ( I didn't use brown sugar )
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard ( I used regular yellow mustard )
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar ( Optional )
Directions:
  1. In a large skillet, brown ground beef, celery and onion.
  2. Drain the fat.
  3. Stir in remaining ingredients, simmer covered for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. If Sloppy Joes appear to be loose, leave cover off and let moisture evaporate.
  5. Cook until it's the consistency you like for serving.
  6.

Here is JR at our Easter egg hunt. :)

Have a Terrific Tuesday!
